Gulf travellers gain leisure option near Alexandria without long-haul travel
ABU DHABI: Etihad Airways has launched a new seasonal route connecting Abu Dhabi to the Egyptian city of Al Alamein, offering travellers a direct gateway to the country’s Mediterranean coastline.
The twice-weekly flights, operating every Thursday and Sunday, are timed to accommodate both weekend escapes and extended summer holidays.
This latest addition to Etihad’s growing summer portfolio positions Al Alamein as an up-and-coming destination for leisure travellers across the UAE and Gulf region. Located west of Alexandria, the city is renowned for its pristine beaches, luxury resorts, and laid-back charm – making it an ideal spot for those looking to unwind close to home.
Fleet and service
Operated by Etihad’s Airbus A320 aircraft, the route offers eight Business class seats and 150 in Economy, combining comfort with the airline’s signature hospitality. The convenient flight duration between Abu Dhabi and Al Alamein enhances the appeal of the destination for families, couples, and solo travellers alike.

Network expansion
Al Alamein is the sixth seasonal summer destination added by Etihad this year, joining the likes of Nice, Malaga, Mykonos, Santorini, and Antalya. The route also supports Etihad’s ambitious 2025 expansion strategy, which includes 27 new destinations across Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa.
